This is a great side and can be made as a side for any grilled protein but they go really really great with steak.
I'm not using any of my products because salt, pepper, and a squeeze of lemon to finish are really all you need to make these shine. Use some Hot Pepper Salt if you need some heat on your asparagus.
For these they are best served piping hot. If I'm cooking steaks I like to wait until the steaks have been pulled off the grill and are resting and I'll make these at the very end so that my grilled asparagus is piping hot and crispy. That being said, once these cool off they are still amazing cold, right out of the fridge.
I find myself constantly reaching for these until they are gone so you may want to pick up an extra bundle of the long green tasty treats. I almost never have leftovers.
Ingredients
-
1 bunch asparagus
-
1 tbsp oilve oil
-
Salt
-
Pepper
-
Lemon
Directions
Rinse and dry asparagus to get any soil off. Chop off the bottom few inches of asparagus that can be woody and not that great.
Toss stalks with oil salt and pepper right before adding to the hot grill. I like to use a grill pan to keep from losing veggies to the fire.
Grill until they are nicely charred in places. Turn every few minutes to keep them from burning.
Finish with a squeeze of lemon after they come off and serve immediately or reheat in an air fryer for just a minute or two right before serving.
